After break we had leila and we were focusing on the different type of sub-genre's from horror movies and the codes and conventions that every horror movie involves. Some of the conventions include power cuts, a person falling over, vehicle wont standard the obvious one running upstairs when there is a door in front of them. I today i learnt that every horror film has these little things in them that make them into a horror film. They include something that scares us or takes us back to a certain time in our lives when we were scared and makes us re feel the fear we felt back then, this could be used in a film by having a thunder storm with loud bangs of thunder,this would scare you if you was scared of thunder storms as a child and hid under the covers. We done practical in the old animation room we focused on silhouette and back lighting. I was the actor in the first shot we done, i was the evil character within this shot so I had to duck down behind a sofa and appear slowly. This worked out very well and it was creepy so it fitted in with out theme this term. After lunch we went to the cinema to watch the film it. We edited our lighting videos together on premier pro. Premeir pro wasn't working properly and we needed up deleting the video and so we had to re start. This was the only problem we had today while making the sounds. This video was put onto Youtube and then put onto showbie. After lunch we were started to record different sounds that were in horror movies like screams, footsteps, crashes and strange noises. This went well as I never knew I could scream so loud but it actually worked really well. After lunch we were making our own horror movie theme tunes on the app garage band. This was good practice but i would not do this again as mine was not very good so i won't upload it as i will probably make another one better then this on my study day so i have more time to practice with different types of music and can get my family to tell me if it's good. I was working with daniel within this project. I made a fake cut on daniel and it came out really well. After break daniel done a fake burnt on me and it looks realistic. After lunch we made a fake eye with the veins of the eye still attached. We done this by using a mould that changes shape when it's in hot water and goes rock hard when it's opinion cold water. After this mould had cooled down we cut out an pupil for the eye and stuck it on with clear nail vanish. After we done that it was time to create the blood vessels that hang from the eye. We used cotton to do this and made little strands of it and stuck these on with clear nail vanish. After this was all done the eye was looking good and realistic. After break we looked at the semiotics within horror films. I wrote up the definition and different types of semiotics used within horror films such as music and the use of different character roles within films. After I looked up what bbfc (British board of film classification) meant and what are their ratings/classifications for film ages. I wrote up the age ratings and wrote a short explanation of what each rating meant for example 15 age range means no one under the age of 15 can view or buy the film. I made a shared padlet with Julie and we researched the film what lies beneath however she went to a meeting so I done all the work alone which wasn't bad but it annoyed me a little. In the padlet page I mentioned what semiotics were used within this film and what the age rating was. After lunch we presented this to the class and Julie read out what I wrote so she got credit for the work I done, this wasn't okay with me as she had no idea what I wrote. Overall today went well but it was a little bit boring as we didn't have much to do. This will help us as it will make our personal statement stronger. After lunch we spent an hour and half watching different clips from different films looking at different narrative. I found this interesting as now we know how to add narrative to horror films. After lunch we started writing our script for our horror film. This was a bit bland to do as some people don't have an idea yet. I have an idea but i actually want to fully plan it out then fit the script in, this is because i could write a really good script but it could be longer then the 4 minutes we have and would not fit in with the idea. This is the scene where the toys start moving around and start playing music. we recreated the sounds using scrapings of metal nails and other objects that we found in the old animation room. The didn't even begin yet and our actor quit and so we needed to figure out what we needed to do very fast. I said i would act in this film as i had done drama in GCSE. First the day started with my group coming in early getting all the equipment we needed to film with and bringing it on the bus to Rebecca's house, we got a bit lost but we found it in the end. After we got to her house we set up the equipment and started filming. We started filming and all was going well and we got some of the scenes filmed but we needed to re shoot some of them as in the knife scene we used a real knife and we was not allowed to use a real knife as we were going outside to with it so we set another filming day to re shoot and finish the filming. After we finished filming we got the bus back to town, put all the equipment away and booked it out for next week.
