In this slideshow, I wrote creative pieces in the form of vignettes and poems that were conveyed through the themes and events that happened in the book, House on Mango Street. There are three vignettes, (My Name, Identity Event, Coming of Age) and three poems, (Bio Poem, Those Who Don't, Gender Roles). In each piece, I focused on adding my own perspective/opinion on certain events and themes, and adding figurative language and/or a strong use of vocabulary to convey a certain mood in the story.

This is a nonfiction piece where I compare the vignette "My Name" and the article "The Power of Names". I discuss the concepts of how women are treated less in society and how simple names are viewed more positively than complex names. I related these two concepts to both texts. I also used text evidence and reasoning from both the vignette and the article to support my ideas and perspective.

I am most proud of the body paragraphs, describing the many causes, symptoms, and treatments of PTSD. I personally think I did well on getting evidence from articles and explaining further beyond the quote I took from the article.
