Artist statement:
This piece is showing the flower of a camellia tree in full bloom, that I have so conveniently outside of my house. The colours used are very vibrant and stand out against the subtle blue background, to me, that represents happiness, life, and rebirth. As an artist I strive to better my work each time I create something, I know that it is not the best, but I also know that it is better than some of the things I have created in the past. I had multiple moments where I didn’t want to continue because I was unhappy with what I saw. Underwater is this acrylic painting I painted during my free time after coming across a photo of a girl's face half submerged in a pool. In the image, I kept the background simple and light so that the colours would reflect off the girl's skin and contrast with her hair. I wanted to experiment with the lighting from underwater, something I am not familiar with, to gain technique and skill. This was done in pen with added highlights of coloured pencil. I'm proud of this artwork because how well it turned out even with the limited resources, and this piece made me realize that simplicity can better that complexity. The subject matter was to create something  that was unique but expected. I created my art by going outside and taking observant sketches of what I saw. Then I added detail and refinery to my sketches. I added colour to these sketches and set them aside for later. I began the dotting and when I was complete I pasted each image on my sketchbook using glue. My over all appeal on my piece was very positive. My art is a city in a one-point perspective where the background is very bright and there is a silhouette of a person in the center. For my artwork, I used alcohol-based markers for the building and created a watercolor wash for the sky. My artwork is inspired by Times Square. In my work, I am trying to show loneliness by secluding 1 person in the center. My goal was to create artwork that showed alienation. I did this using color, the buildings are bright and the person is dark or gloomy to show alienation. While creating this art I learned that there’s a lot of trial and error. I used an online app called pro create to create my art.The idea behind my art was to show that you are not alone and that others feel the same way. I started  by painting a rainbow background using watercolour, then I started painting the different stages of the moon in acrylic and I finished it up by using a gel pen to add stars. The big idea of my art was to represent how time is relevant to the sun, moon and stars. My goal of this artwork was to portray and aesthetically pleasing painting that was clear and easy to understand. I think I reached my goal but definitely had room for improvement. I think I should’ve started by sketching everything out to make it look more unified and similar. Overall, I enjoyed doing this project and I am proud of how my art turned out.

It is enclosed in a wooden frame and at the back of the artwork, there are Christmas lights illuminating the pieces of paper making a really nice effect. I created my art by drawing evergreen trees, with the amount of them increasing the further back you go. To help with the addition of styrofoam, there is a 1 cm thick border at the sides of the cardstock. I then added my styrofoam at the edges at the cardstock. The styrofoam dimensions are 1cm width, 1cm height, 30.5cm length. I glued them on and placed them compact in the wood frame. The wood frame by getting a piece of wood from Home Depot that was way oversized and getting an electric saw in my garage, placing it ontop a stepladder and hoping it doesn’t break (my dad insisted we do it this way). We then filed it down using sandpaper and guess what: a file. I then started on the electric work by buying 16ft of LED RGB strips, cutting them to the size required of this project and carefully sodering on a microcontroller for the remote, and a power port/battery for power.  The big idea behind the artwork was to create a totally unique way to show something as partially mundane as a forest, while also having a deeper meaning behind it. My goal behind this artwork is to show that our forests are gifts, and we need to be using them, as having a gift as decoration is very useless. As our forests are gifts we should also try and maximise the lifetime of their use, by planting more trees when we cut one down. My overall thoughts about this artwork are that I learned a lot about working with wood and making a good display. I almost got the measurement wrong until my dad corrected me. My dad also learned why not to by cutting wood in a sealed garage, after I was coughing heavily.

With just a pencil, you can make loads of beautiful art because people tend to use paint or pastels to make art, but you can use a pen or pencil and still make a beautiful piece of artwork. What worked was that I managed to do the artwork to the best of my ability since mainly I can't manage to do it. Mainly, I couldn’t do much because of the lack of materials that I have at home. Nothing was really that difficult it’s just it’s quite hard to make art with less materials. I am proud that I managed to create good art with the materials I have, because usually it would be quite difficult considering the circumstances. I am excited about what kind of art I will be able to create with the materials I have and if it might turn out to look good. Next time, I’ll try to prepare myself with more art supplies. So, I won’t have to be lacking on not having any art supplies. I started by downloading and testing out some fonts that would look like it was painted. Then I wrote the letter G and I found a stock image of a pink sunset so I liquified that to make it look like paint then I made a layer mask of the G and made paindrips with the liquify tool again. Next time something I would do different would be to do it with multiple letter or a full word because then it would be a bit more challenging. I decided to draw it because I was wanting to I just didn't have a chance. When this assignment came along I thought it would be a great idea to draw it. I started drawing adding some background to make it stand out. I really like how my drawing turned out and I would definitely do it again, next time I would try to make the phone stand out more and the background stand out less.

It's simply an outlet drawn with shading to emphasize the vocal point. The main tools I used when creating were pencils, pencil crayons, and a fine liner. There wasn't a main inspiration behind outlet, rather the fact I saw one beneath my desk. My work does not express a personal or social issue. The principal emotions are excitement and joy. This is conveyed by the blue and yellow colors throughout the piece. Outlet allowed me to expand my shading skills, therefore, I reached one of my goals as an artist. Overall, apart from the bottom half the piece it turned out well. My work is called "Natural Wreath" The art was created when we were doing our land art project. To make it I went and grabbed some sticks and bent them in a circle to create the base of the project.  A process I used when creating the art was designing one section of the wreath and then copying it around with slight changes so I don't look repetitive.  The original wreath was planned to be made of mainly blue, white and yellow but with a lack of those coloured it never came to be.  I was inspired by the fresh flowers at my house and a sculpture of sticks woven into a circle on the example document that was provided by the teacher.  One of my goals was to have it look as nice as some of the wreaths at a flower shop.  The final piece exceeded my expectations and is an artwork I am very proud of.]]> 2020-06-06 05:32:57 UTC https://padlet.com/martha_bilton/7x62nwyi44lanj7c/wish/613943692
