The text says, "almost 112,000 evacuees were in temporary or permanent centers, even though during this time there was not one proven case of spying or sabotage by a Japanese American." This is hypocritical because America is supposed to have equal rights for everyone. The text says,"Some Patriots own slaves, yes, but you must listen to their words: 'all men created equal.' The words come first. They'll pull the deeds and the justice behind them." This shows hypocrisy because at the end of the war the Patriots freed little if any slaves. In the example of hypocrisy in history, the Japanese Americans were imprisoned for the suspicion of spying. In the example in Chains, slaves are imprisoned to work based on their skin color. One difference between the two examples is  that back in the time of the book Chains the Patriots were fighting for their freedom from Britain.
