What is Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is a type of Respiratory disease that effects the carriers lungs. In the lungs their is a type of jelly type liquid that builds up in the bronchial tubes. This substance is called mucus and is usually just a thin and runny layer, but when and if you have cystic fibrosis, then it produces a thick jelly type substance that blocks the passage way which in turn then blocks the alveoli's air sacks which allow us as humans to breath. With this mucus jelly in the bronchial tubes, dust and other germs could get caught in there, and could lead to an infection in the lungs. In a normal human, then there are tiny hairs called cilia, that are able to collect the access mucus and send it up the tubes to the throat, where one of two things could happen, it could be swallowed and enter the digestive track to be digested, or, the access mucus could simply just be coughed out of the body. However, with Cystic Fibrosis the Cilia hairs cannot deal with the thick and sticky mucus and becomes trapped in the airways, blocking and limiting the ability to breath.
http://www.webmd.com/lung/tc/how-cystic-fibrosis-affects-breathing-and-the-lungs-topic-overview

Cystic Fibrosis occurs when a mutation occurs in the Human chromosome 7 and is an example of a recessive disease in the sense that both of the parents have to be a carrier of the disease. This disease occurs in 25% of carriers children due to it being a recessive gene that requires it to be 25% and up.
https://www.cff.org/What-is-CF/Testing/Carrier-Testing-for-CF/
