I love how student centered this principal is. I like that students are given a lot of ownership in the learning process and there are multiple ways that can be done. This allows for teachers to adapt connected learning principles in to their classrooms pretty easily. -Hayley

I love the idea of Genius Hour. I have talked about this before in masters classes, but I think that this type of inquiry based learning is great for students. I currently use inquiry based learning ideas in my own lessons. I would love to be able to do a whole genius hour with my third graders. -Hayley

I think that I need to be more conscious of how and where I can throw in student choice. It is easy to tell students what we are going to research or read/write about, but I need to find more ways that I can have students apply what they are learning while still having choice on how they do that. -Hayley

David Foley: I could see Connected Learning as a piece attached to my curriculum. The idea of genius hour is fascinating. I know that the teacher is not teaching during this time, but I wonder what type / how much guidance the adult in the scenario provides.

I really like how the focus of connected learning is put on interest and relationships, but is also supported in the academic world. Sometimes I feel that educators or schools think that student interest is something to be left at home, but there is such power in engaging individual interest and choice in the classroom. - Jackie

At one point I designed a choice board for assessment for the unit, but I've never actually implemented it. I think maybe this will be my project for the summer and implement in the fall semester! - Jackie
