Interesting points of the presentation

I found appealing the application presented; it was great that we had time to download it and experiment with it. I feel that this kind of materials would be eye-catching for students, which would guarantee their attention and active participation, and it would be useful to visually present the topic to them, iproving their understanding.

Besides, I strongly believe that it was great that the group explained the advantages as well as the drawbacks of each tool they presented, since they both aspects must be taken into account when putting them into practice in any field. If not, the implementation may not be successful.

What have I learnt with this class project?

Apart from understanding manufacturing more deeply and with more detail, I have learnt about different tools to use like the 3D printer, the laser cutter and the dremel (The colage above shows each of one). It is true that I had already heard about first one and I knew what was before the explanation, but I found really interesting the other two ones.

Also, they presented projects and tasks, divided in subjects (science, math, history...), that could be carried out based on these resources. This was great because it was a first contact to relate the theory with the practice, so after that, I started to think and imagine other activities that could be proposed.

A glimpse into the future

As a future teacher, I try to collect during this formation years tools, materials and strategies that I could then put into practice with my students so as to make the teaching process more dynamic and the learning more significant.

I strongly believe that manufacturing, adapting it to the students and the topic that would be work on, would be an interesting tool, so I would definitely use it in my future. As I explained in the voki assignment, I feel that the 3D printer is a very helpful and appropiate resource to use in the educational field since it has been confirmed that fosters learners' motivation and participation and, therfore, improves the input and learning. I have to admit that it is something that I would like to implement in my future classes.

The evolution of the idea of manufacturing

It can be said that there have been two main steps in the process of understanding what manufacturing is. This is portrayed with this simple collage I made and attach above.

At first, as the first photograph shows, before attending to the class design, I have to admit that, although I had a general idea of what manufacturing was, my misconception was just limited to the work done in factories to create products to then sell.

However, as the second picture shows, during the explanation, I started to realize that manufacturing was not exclusively dedicated to industry and that its function could be transferred and employed in different multiple areas apart from the industrial one. In fact, one of its most interesting uses is closely related to education since it has significant educational benefits and practical applications.
