Trench Warfare: To avoid rounds of machine fire while opposing sides defended or tried to take Paris, both sides dug miles of parallel trenches to protect themselves. It came to be known as trench warfare, but life in the trenches could also be very dangerous. The men basically spent their whole time in the trenches that would become waterlogged and muddy. The soldiers also had to deal with rats, wet and unfresh food, and the high possibility of attack through artillery fire.
The Schieffen plan: It was the German's plan that called for defeating France in the west and then rushing to fight Russia. They assumed it would be successfully as Russia lacked all the railroad lines Europe possessed, therefore would be slower to bring support to the front.
WW1 WEAPONS: Military strategists found difficulty to keep up with the new weapons of the war, as these new weapons and the way that technology quickly moved left them not knowing what to do.
POISON GAS: Soldeirs wore masks   to protect themselves.
The gas was first devolped by Germans, but both sides used it. They would vary to cause blindness, blisters or death by choking.
Machine Guns: The machine gun automatically fires and was drastically improved by WW1. Being able to wipe out hordes of Attackers it made advances difficult.
Tank: the tank is a armored vehicle equipped with chain tracks to move on all terrains. It was first used by the British in 1916at the battle of the Somme.
Submarine: The submarine was first introduced by the Germans in 1914 as a effective working warship. The primary weapons equipped on the submarine against ships was the torpedo, which worked as a underwater missile.

Germans Blitzkrieg: The Germans first used this military strategy on the invasion of Poland. They Blitzkrieg or "lightning War" was the Germans using quickly moving planes, infrantary and tanks to overwhelm enemy forces.

THE ATOMIC BOMB
When the united states introduced this bomb it changed the tide of war. The Explosion caused massive damage to the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Austria-Hungary sent an ultimatum to Serbia saying that if they don't let them hold an investigation they will go to war. Serbia declined as an investigation would lead to Austrian military control of the country. This led to the two going the war with Russia joining due to them being allies. Since Germany were allies with Austria they joined and when they joined France joined the fight as well. Nationalism also played a role in contributing to the competing of nations. Nationalism is the feeling of pride and honor within one's country or state. These European nations also decided to imperialize other colonies, while at the same time using militarism for the benefit of their countries. Imperialism is the act of  extending a nation's power towards another country, while militarism is the act of preparing and keeping a military force ready for war. However, as imperialism and militarism grew, so did tensions between the European nations, so much so that the nations that trusted each other formed alliances, while the ones that despised each other began to develop conflicts that would eventually turn into something more major. Alliances are unions or leagues that are formed between two or more political governments. Eventually, an intense conflict between Serbia and Austria-Hungary eventually lead to the two nations forming their own alliances, which would be the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente, which would soon lead to a global conflict known as World War I.   
   
  WWII 
  After their loss to the Triple Entente, an ideology known as fascism was on the rise within the Triple Alliance nations. Fascism, although encouraged nationalism and pride within these countries, also blamed religion and other economic systems, such as Jews and Communism for their loss of World War I. The nations who followed this ideology became what was known as the Axis Powers. Europe had lost more men in battle than in all the wars of the previous three centuries.
Countries involved in the war were so devoted that all their resources went to the war effort, governments turned to rationing which is people only being allowed to purchase a limited amount of foods to send the rest to the troops.
During the war women took over the jobs of men and changed many peoples views of what women were capable of doing, this lead to helping them win the right to vote and women's suffrage became law in many countries.
Prices dropped for cars after the war and middleclass could start affording cars when only the rich before could purchase them.
WWII
In European countries that were affected from the war, rationing was even more drastic. Following the event of Pearl Harbor many turned against Japanese americans. because of this president Roosevelt called for the internment of them because they were seen as a threat.

Within the time period of World War I, a new deadly disease spread known as Influenza that began in England and India, and then spread throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In turn, Influenza resulted in the deaths of 20 million people around the world. Because of the disease, many families believes that they were affected more from the virus than the actual war itself. Not only was disease a factor that lead to genocide, improved technology such as guns and deaths in internment camps and prisons of war all helped contribute to the number of deaths caused because of World War I.
WWII
However, one of the major causes of genocide within WWII was the major breakthroughs in technological arsenal that only increased the number of casualties that were killed off as a result of the war. Examples of these technologies were tanks, atomic bombs, aerial vehicles, and other technological advancements in weaponry. Despite the benefits of this new technology, both sides suffered tremendous genocide because both sides were able to gain access to this new technology, making it more difficult for one side to outgun the other, resulting in the risk of human casualties.
Both Wars
When examining both the wars, they were both similar in the ways that they caused genocide to occur throughout the wars. This statement is true because both wars consisted of new technologies putting innocents at risk. For example, tanks, new guns, aerial weaponry, and other new military technologies helped contribute to the mass suffrage between nations. Another similarity between World War I and World War II in the ways that they caused genocide was disease. This statement is true because as people were moving in and out of nations, disease began to spread, such as Influenza, which in turn caused massive amounts of people to die because of the deadly viruses. One last way that both World War I and II caused mass genocide to occur was the placement of internment camps and prisons of war. This statement is true because within World War I and II, Jews and Armenians were both transported to these locations because they were discriminated against and segregated from the general society.
