I used this website at the beginning of my research, when exploring the history of music videos. This software was very useful, as it allowed for me to create a timeline that displayed the progression of music videos of the years, which suited my research as I could clearly see which codes and conventions were the most influential. Additionally, it was also easy to navigate, which aided my research.

TubeChop was a useful piece of software, as it allowed for me to embed short clips, from music videos, on my blog. Therefore when I was analysing the theory of music videos or the codes and conventions used by a specific genre, I could easily support my points with brief evidence. This was also useful during my research as it meant that I only had to analyse a small section of the video, as opposed to examining the entire video.

When analysing the content of music videos, I used YouTube as my primary viewing platform. Additionally, this medium was also vital during my creative research tasks as it enabled me to upload my mini-projects, such as the Lip-Syncing challenge, and gain feedback on how I could improve this skill. This feedback was particulary beneficial during the construction stage, and something I would have been unable to gain without YouTube.

This medium offered an enaging alternative to Powerpoint, as it included a variety of themes and layouts that enabled me to present my findings in fun and intriguing ways. Furthermore, it was more useful than other presentation softwares, such as powerpoint, as I was able to embed images and videos directly from the internet.

iMovie is a fairly simple piece of editing software, and wasn't too complicted to use. Although I had the opportunity to use more advanced softwares, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, I felt that these were beyond my level of understanding and using technology that I was familiar with would allow to concentrate on the finish of my product. In iMovie, I was used colour correction to get ride of the pale, yellow tone that some of my shots had, due to the lighting I used, and made them look brighter and clearer. Additionally, I was able to crop some errors out of my shots, such I when someone accidentally stepped into shot during filming, thus enabling me to create a smooth finish. The cutaway tool was also very useful, as

This was the camera I used during the filming of my performance scenes, and is one of the reasons why they look so crisp and clear. This camera filmed footage that had a high resolution, which allowed for the lip-syncing to be presented clearly. However, it was unfortunate that this camera did not belong to me, and was on loan from my teacher as it meant that it didn't have much time to charge in between filming sessions. This meant that I had to pause some of my shoots to charge the camera, but this was a sacrifice I was willing to pay due to the quality of the footage received.

I used this piece of hardware frequently during filming, as it enabled to me to create static shots that gave the video an overall smooth finish. Furthermore, it prevented the quality of the footage from being affected by my hand's shaking, which would have distracted the audience from my video. However, I did also try to film some shots without the tri-pod, in order to add some variety and make the video more engaging for my audience.

This was the photo manipulation software that I used to produce my digipak and digipak poster. At first, I found the software incredibly difficult to use and it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to learn different techniques I could use to edit my photos. However, once I become accustomed to this software, I was able to successfully manipulate my shots in a way that suited my music video. For example, I was able to extract the shadows from some of my close-up shots and replaced them with a galaxy overlay that created a vibrant print of the artist. After much frustration, I feel as if I would be happy to use this software again in the future.

Construction - Studio Lighting

At the beginning of the filming process, I had very little idea about how to use studio lighting therefore I had to practice and take some test-shots beforehand. After doing this, I found that the lighting was fairly easy to use and was able to brightly light all of my shots. However, one issue I found is that the photography studio wasn't very dark and let a lot of outside light in, which meant that my shots had a slightly pale, yellow tone. Thankfully, this was easy to edit in iMovie.

The photography studio was fairly easy to set-up, and the wide back drop enabled me to create a bright, vibrant video that suited the genre perfectly. However, one issue I had was that my actor was taller than the frame of the back drop. This meant that I had to be particularly inventive with camera angles to make sure that the frame didn't enter any of my shots.
