For these photographs, Mendieta presses her face and parts of her body onto a square sheet of plexiglass, distorting and transforming the appearance of her physical features and youthful beauty. She used her body to press her face on a transparent glass to mould some different patterns. This is a video of about six minutes, which was shot in 1975.


The whole video is black and white, with a very depressing feeling. But in her performance, she played a housewife in an apron. She stood in a place almost surrounded by kitchen utensils and assigned various furniture into different letters in order of letters a to z.

She waved the knife in her hand as if she were venting or expressing her enthusiasm for work. She expressed many different emotions in her body language. For this project, I need to do five different tasks, which exercise my different abilities, such as generalization, comprehension, listening. I need to do a lot of research about artists, and then try to analyse different works. This tests my understanding and analysis ability.

I have some excitement and worry. Because this is the first time I have completed such a project in this form, which is a great challenge for me. Especially if my language ability is not good, so I'm worried that I can't do it well. But I also think this can exercise my ability in different aspects very well. The sculptures I took were taken in two different parks, one in the south of Shaoxing and the other in the north of Shaoxing. It's two different directions. These are all statues made to commemorate some former celebrities in Shaoxing, which represent different deeds.

This plane was given by the Chinese Air Force at that time and was produced in Shenyang. It has been actually used before, and only 767 such aircraft have been produced. I remember when I was a child, I had a lot of friends to play near this plane and even climb. But later, because of some safety hazards and to protect the integrity of the plane, it was surrounded.
Near this plane, there are many statues of local celebrities in Shaoxing. In front of these statues, there will be a stone tablet recording the great deeds and life background of these celebrities. Visitors can be better known to them.There are also some large stone pillars on it, which engrave the spirit of China's current promotion in ancient Chinese characters.

Another large sculpture is in the park to the south. The park was closed due to the epidemic, so I can only find some photos taken before. But it can still be seen that this sculpture is much bigger than the previous one. This is the story of Dayu's water control. Dayu's water control is a myth and legend in China. A long time ago, the Yellow River was often flooded, which greatly affected people's daily life. At this time, there was such a person saving people from danger, so people made a statue about him in memory of him.This statue restores the description of Dayu in the fairy tale and creates a great image.

These facilities are built by the government. The first is to enable people to better understand and remember history, the second is to commemorate these great people, and finally, Shaoxing is a tourist city, which can also attract more tourists. Therefore, thousands of tourists come here every year, and at the same time, they also have a good understanding of Shaoxing's history.

Personally, I am very moved to see these works of art, because they carry too much. I also asked an old man when shooting, but he refused to appear on camera, so I didn't take a picture.
