After being disfellowshipped for his teachings, Heuff created his own branch of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and titled it the General Association of Davidian Seventh-day Adventists. In 1934, he established a headquarters in Waco, Texas for him and his followers to inhabit. Koresh left Mount Carmel until 1987, when he returned with seven others, five semiautomatic rifles, two rifles, two shotguns, nearly 400 rounds of ammunition, and camouflage.
