Affordances: This book is not as long as the fiction book I also provided. There are a lot of colorful pictures on each page that help tell the story. It is also explaining what had happened from a kid's perspective.

Limitations: It may not be as interesting as a mystery book, and it is giving more truthful facts.

Affordances: Students will stay interested in solving the mystery. The writing on each page is fairly large and can make them feel accomplished by reading an entire chapter in one sitting. There are also black and white photos on around 60% of the pages which can also help the reader stay interested.

Limitations: This book is a chapter book with 96 pages which can make it more difficult for some readers.

The reason for why I chose to do this assignment over the Revolutionary War is because I actually remember learning about it in elementary school. This was one of the few topics I can remember that I learned from and interested me as we did this unit. I feel as though it is a very important time in history that all students must remember.

Affordances: This website is a very quick and easy activity for students to gain the basic knowledge of the Revolutionary War. There are 8 different quizzes they can do as either homework or an in-class activity. They have multiple attempts to do the quizzes.

Limitations: The students might find it difficult to stay on track since it is an online activity. Each quiz is about 7-9 questions long and they are multiple choice so it might be a little bit too easy.
