I feel quite inspired by Magrittes work, and i am taking a lot of inspiration from him in my final piece. I like his work because the odd composition makes you question the piece. I like how in Magrittes pieces, the identity of the piece is often hidden with some sort of object, sometimes flowers, fruit or birds. I think Kahlos work is done beautifully, and i am obsessed with the amount of detail she put into her work. The portrait is very detailed, but so is the background. She often painted a variety of flowers and animals. I like how in one of her pieces she painted the moon and sun, similarly to some of Magrittes pieces where he has included the moon. Dali was a surrealist, just like Magritte. I like how confusing his work is, and very random. I like the way he paints clouds/the sky, and i might try to replicate this style in my piece. I really enjoy Van Gogh's work, and the texture he created in his paintings. I like the fluidity of the sky in his pieces, and the brushstrokes are very effective to create a seamless yet interesting piece. I like how in his portraits, he brought in the background colours to the face, and vice versa. I think this is a very effective way of making the piece seem more like a completed piece, as the colours are mixed. I absolutely love Munch's work, particularly his use of colour and his simple yet effective way of painting. His work feels very emotional, as he based his pieces off of emotions like sadness and grief. I think the colour palettes are very effective also, and help to convey the emotion behind the piece. Max Ernst's work is very interesting, and probably not something id choose to look at or replicate myself, but he was recommended to me and i thought his work was amazing. He uses incredible detail in his pieces, and often bright colours. I like how some of his pieces are all mainly one colour, but they don't look like the same hue, and still have plenty of contrast. John Stezaker is a contemporary artist, and i think his work is really cool, how the images on top still compliment the images beneath but in such a different way than they looked before. His work reminds me (sort of) like a modern day Magritte if he wasn't a painter, with the images hiding the identity of the person.
