Timing for ending R1 grades

Based on the document, it says... "Students will have a window of time between November 5 and December 1 to show evidence that they should now have credit for R1, using the process defined by the course team." This means the course is officially over Nov 2 by the calendar. We all know that students may scramble Nov 3 & 4 to turn in missing assignments since they are designated "no school" days. Grades are then expected to be submitted Nov 5 at 9:00 am. Can we offer as much grace to teachers as we are for our students. Can we establish a cutoff for Ss to turn in work? Then I would like to see the submission date be set so teachers have time to grade the work? Then all who don't meet those deadlines can fall into IC. My suggestion...all Ss must have missing work/assessments submitted by Wednesday. I think we should specify a time. Teachers must submit grades Friday afternoon. Then the IC will start after Wednesday. Some of our teachers are starting brand new courses and we just need to offer grace. I also understand that every report card is being stuffed by hand by our guidance department. Yes, this takes time, but it seems that since teachers are up until all hours of the night making plans for the next day, our guidance counselors can certainly come in on a Saturday to do this. They could work Friday evening as well, like many of our teachers are.
