This Corona add is using the blue of the sky and ocean to showcase thier beverage. It works in a number of ways. The blue sky and waves make us think of water which is refreshing and that makes us interpret Corona as a refreshing drink. Also, the way that high tide is white lettering and next to a full Corona while low tide is blue and next to a nearly empty Corona implies that the drinker will be have their thirst quenched by drinking the Corona. The relative position of this add is important as well. The position of a full Corona next to an empty Corona, along with the words high tide and low tide, implies that someone will be drinking from high tide to low tide. Another important thing to notice when talking about relative position is the tiny "please drink responsibly" in the bottom left. We know from Silverblatt chapter nine that: "a person glancing at an ad is most likely to focus initially on the upper-right-hand portion of the page." (325) So the responsible drinking plea is tucked in the exact opposite position as the most likely to be noticed.
