This relates to our own business, originally we were pricing jobs for clients (renovation work and small alterations) with a manual process using spreadsheet's to collate pricing we had received from other sub-trades and suppliers which would take a long long time, in turn this would cause a delay in providing the client with a price and by that stage they may have already made their mind up about going with another builder. We realised that we needed to implement pricing software to assist with this process so we did some research into which ones were the best and also found that most other builders used a software programme which cut down a lot of time. We decided on the best one to fit our businesses needs and decided to make this change. Although there was an initial cost in the short term to get it set up in the long-term we would be better off as we would be spending less unproductive time in the office and more time on site also we were able to submit prices to our clients A LOT quicker therefore increasing our chances of successfully securing the contract.
We have also recently priced a few new builds and the software has proved invaluable. Thinking back now to what we were using it would not have been possible to price these jobs so accurately within a acceptable timeframe.

Michelle
