The Court has had a ruling point and was more willingly to accept a larger role towards the federal government.

Willis Van Devanter, who indeed helped strike down New Deal programs, was resining from the Court. This formatted FDR to nominate someone to the Justice who wanted the New Deal. He soon started to hire new Justices as retirements increased. Felix Frankfurter, his top advisers, was one of the new Justices.
Q: Restate why Willis Van Devanter resigned from the Court.

Roosevelt soon began to have the Court on his side. He soon started to get votes from 5 to 4, this later on increased onto the Wagner Act. Many in the Justice soon started to go for Roosevelt that many on the Justice, started to change their opinions on Roosevelt. Pundits called this "switch in time to save nine."
Q: Summarize how Roosevelt started to get more votes onto his New Deals.

FDR would create a plan to weaken Justices of the Supreme Court. With that adding up, he would add up six new Justices to what was originally a nine member Court. He included many elderly and overworked citizens into the Justices. This later on was labeled as his "court packing."
Q: Explain why Roosevelt thought it was a good idea to add more people into the Justices.

A year before, the Supreme Court had revoked one of Roosevelt's key laws the first 100 days. This happened due to the Supreme Court not giving the President as much power to regulate interstate commerce, or to make an act unconstitutional.
Q: Evaluate what Roosevelt wanted to complete his first 100 days and why he was not allowed to.
