Advice for Math 10 online This class has a well organized schedule so it is easier to plan your time but still make it a habit to check the web portal every few days. •	If you can’t understand something it can be difficult to describe your problem, so if you can’t make it to office hours, take a screen shot of the problem you are having difficulty with,( use the Snipping Tool in windows) and email it with your issue to the lecturer. •	If you are good with Excel, use it to create a template for some of the formulas; it will help you exercise the brain and you can use the "PrtScr" key on your keyboard or "Snip It" app to capture screen shots from the online book to add to your notes. •	Remember notes are “brain fitness”; if you want to be in shape exercise, exercise, exercise.

I highly recommend to make the best of the module and do all the things in the list each week. This module is very organized and it helps you study efficiently. When you read test book first time, you may not understand all of them, but Chapter note explain the concept explicitly. After going through the Chapter note, you should revisit sample problems you couldn't understand first time. Video made by Mrs. Wong is very useful, especially if you want to learn how to use calculator/StatCrunch.

HY

Also, I would pay more attention to the teachers' notes, rather than the textbook. I find that it's condensed, and straight to the point of what's on the test. My 2 cents.

Jade M

Reading the textbook takes time but one can certainly benefit from this and gain the fundamental understanding of every chapter. At the first few easier chapters, it may not seem necessary but it will pave the way to high competency later on and success in more advanced classes if research is your interests.
Since most of us don't get the chance to practice and utilize the knowledge on a daily basis, it is very likely after a couple of weeks, what we learn at the beginning of a module will start getting fuzzy. So to ensure a firm grasp of the material, it is very useful, at least from my personal experience to review the notes, test reviews and problem sets before a major exam. The test reviews are of great importance in terms of preparing for exams.
I also take note while studying and try to explain to myself how different methods are linked with each other and their own limitations. The greatest challenge of the course is probably confidence interval and hypothesis testing. The two methods share some features in common in terms of capabilities and concepts but tackles questions from almost opposite starting points. It will take some time to be comfortable with the two approaches. But power through it because this is almost at the other end of the tunnel:)

HJH

Do the test practice if you want to do well on the test. The textbook has icons you can click on that bring you to animations, practice problems, etc. so you can get some extra practice while you read. I didn't find that out until the last couple weeks.

Advice: Don't wait until the weekend to do all the work. I found that if I work during the day, I'm not going to want to study as much at night, especially if I get tired. But, it's better to do the work over the course of a few days rather than waiting last minute to get it all done. Also, if you just read the Chapter notes, you probably won't need the e-text, honestly. I barely used it because the notes were sufficient, especially with all the examples thrown in. And StatCrunch seems to be easier to use than a TI calculator. Just my opinion though.

To prepare for the tests, do re-examine the chapter notes posted online and do as many examples as you can to familiarize yourself with the questions that will appear on the test. The test reviews are also quite similar in format to the tests so they are a good way to acquaint yourself with the exam's format and content. Re-doing the My Stat Labs questions that you may not have gotten entirely correct is a good way to get full credit for those problems, identify your weaknesses, and correct them with practice.

Both help put emphasis on information that are important and vital in successfully passing this course. I highly suggest doing the homework at the beginning of the week to get it out of the way, that way you can spend the rest of the week studying.
