I like the easy acronym for students and parents that summarizes the document. The bolded words throughout the document make it easier to skim through and get the main ideas. I like the mission statement. I appreciate that any difficult or confusing words are clearly defined. I like that policies for transgender and intersex individuals are outlined without discrimination. This promotes an inclusive environment. I like the goals, objectives, expectations, participation, and attendance sections. They are easy to read and helpful.

I think that every heading in the RockVille handbook is important to have in our handbook. Some key pages I would focus on is Sportsmanship and the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, the reason I believe these are important is because the Code of Conduct displays the overall rules of a Student-Athlete so that is key to show the students. Sportsmanship is also key to remind the player of even though they may believe that they know what sportsmanship is.

I think that some parts are redundant. Several things, like eligibility, are repeated in several different sections. This decreases the clarity and poignancy of the document. I also think that some sections should use more accessible diction. I also think the font/spacing is hard to read. I think that legal disclosures, ie. FERPA, harassment, etc. should be at the end of the document.

I would keep a lot of the mission statements that talk about how Varsity and older athletes must set good examples for the younger athletes because I know how it feels to look up to seniors on your team. For a long time, I was the youngest player on the varsity team so it meant a lot to me to have the approval of the older guys and I would always follow their example.

I like the way they say Student/Athletes, need to show responsibilities to your school, responsibilities to others, and responsibilities to yourself. Also like the way it shows a mission on proving opportunities for student/athletes to participate in programs, like high standards of athletic performance, leadership, scholarship, and community service.

Personally I would take away the Captain's Practice because that in itself could create conflict between the team by naming someone at a higher level than the other athletes even though naming an athlete as Captain is important, a Captain controlled practice could not always be effective. Also the Athletic Participation Expectations is kinda iffy because it in a way talked about the level of a Student-Athletes skill changes their expectation level as well which is true but it shouldn't change drastically because all Student-Athletes should be held at the same level if they want to be considered to be in the next level.

I like the idea of having a guide on how to become NCAA-eligible and the recruiting process. Alternatively, we could provide resources to find these guides. Proper process of communication. I like the condensed codes, but I think that they should be at the forefront of the document. I think we should have sport-specific sections for specific rules and regulations. I think that there should be an FAQ section at the end.

Something I found very interesting was that there was a specific section about parent/coach interactions. Being on a team with overbearing parents (not my own but with others) has been challenging because it disrupts the learning and experience of the sport.
