Summary: In this section, O’Brien ponders the small moments of peace that the men held on to.

Explanation: The paradox that peace can feel so good it hurts shows how much the men long for it while being in the middle of the chaos of war.

Summary:
Tim O’Brien talks of what really happens with war stories and how they don’t get told entirely. Then shifted to the death of Curt Lemon, and how he was blown up and scattered free. Then it shows that even knowing of a war story doesn’t show the full grasp of it just as the case of the woman that talked about the buffalo calf.

Explanation:
The paradox of “that a true story that never happened” is that you can’t always be sure of it, did it occur or not. It could’ve or maybe never did happen but we just won’t truly ever know the truth.

Theme:
The truths that no one can tell are the ones that only the world can tell.

Assessment:
how was the death of curt Lennon seen
A. sad
B. exciting
C. beautiful
D. terrifying
