Students in the 21st Century are so visual! They can learn and recreate skills they learn on youtube so easily, we need to make sure we are giving them the options to learn visually in the classroom as well. The second most influential piece of a students success is them feeling like they have a good teacher. If our students don't think we like them, they aren't going to be invested in learning "for" us.

Teachers have to recognize education and literacy is not only about getting students to learn, it's also about making relationships with students that makes them want to learn.

When asked if technology made school more interesting, students had a hard time actually answering the question. They generally said "yes, its fun!" or "no, I get distracted," but failed to answer the real question. Except for this student. This student recognizes that just because teachers are using technology doesn't mean that it actually adds value to the lesson. Students are no longer more engaged just by giving them a computer, and it is our job to ensure we are giving them quality lessons, not just content.

Students were very open about the idea that they want more technology in their lives. They complained about the school wifi being weak and having to use their data to complete assignments. They wanted to know why we only have 10 laptops per classroom and were not a 1:1 school. They let me know that if they were assigned another powerpoint presentation they "would die." Students crave meaningful use of technology, we just need to find ways to get it to them.

When even the students can tell that our use of technology isn't interesting or helping them learn, We know we have failed really "use" technology to its potential. Teacher education fails pre-service teachers by glossing over the fact that you need a framework when implementing technology in your classroom, and we then fail to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Pre-service and Active Teachers need professional development that teaches them these issues and framework concepts.
