The original has colours that are very dull which contributes to the image looking flat. My edit on the other hand has colours that are vibrant which in my opinion makes the frame feel more alive. I achieved this edit by increasing the vibrance and saturation lightly as well as the contrast which adds shadows to the image. Also if the interviewee is on the left hand side they are normally looking to the right and vice versa. We really liked the idea of creating a black & white short film as we really enjoyed playing around with that idea with previous tasks for this module. 

We found a short film titled “MONDAY” by Loukman Ali. We loved the way it was filmed as it heavy relies on close ups to tell the story. I personally liked the way that nothing is explained and it makes the viewer wonder what's going on in the story. This is something we want to do with our short film as it leaves it to the audience to ponder on the meaning behind the production. We also wanted to do something similar to “MONDAY” with the sound design, we want the sound to play a massive part in telling the story as we’re planning on having no dialogue from our character.

Whilst looking for other short films to inspire us we came across the film “To the girl that looks like me” by Ewurakua Dawson-Amoah. 

We really liked how the voice over narrated the whole piece giving the viewer a look into how racism has affected the black community. We both liked the idea of poetry being read over a film to give it more depth and we thought it would work well with our project. It will add to the film without taking away the creepy and sinister feel we want whilst also expanding on the idea of something or someone being in control of our freedom.

I then went on to edit the saturation and contrast to create a black and white look to the original layer, while leaving the cut out layers in red. Overall I am really happy with how this final image turned out as it adds a whole different, darker tone and perspective than the original. The use of colour within the black and white contrast in my photographs represents the sad aspect of the judgment placed on individuals based on their gender, the added colour shows areas of expression.
I like how my photography accurately portraits the difficulty individuals face with expressing themselves, especially male individuals when it comes to being able to show what some people my call their " feminine" side, without being labelled gay, and for females the need to always wear makeup and look feminine. 
However, during this project I have found it difficult to find models for my photos and therefore had to ask family members for help. I have also found it difficult to use photoshop to add colour into the black and white photos without it creating harsh lines around the coloured objects. Also, if I had more time I would have presented my photography series in a more interesting and creative way. For example, I could printed all of the photographs out and arrange them into a mirror which would further reinforce the idea self expression because you use a mirror to look and make judgments about your appearance. 
Overall, I am satisfied with the final outcome of my photographs and I hope they can be properly interpreted and appreciated by the audience in the future.

Throughout the film we have purposely hidden the characters face to create a type of metaphor for the feeling of being trapped and having your freedom taken away. This relates to the poem played throughout the video which is about an individual trapped in his dark thoughts, the individual proceeds to express his depressive thoughts which can be interpreted to make him seem like a prisoner in his own body.
If I were to change some things about this video I would have added clips representing hope, such as video footage of light coming through a slightly open door, showing an escape from the room/ depressive thoughts.
After we have edited the final version of the video, we have made the decision to add subtle sound to the video which has exaggerated the noises of struggle and made the video more unsettling.
I have originally filmed clips of shadows showing a person with a knife coming up to the main character which could be interpreted as attempted murder, however, I have decided that those might make the video a bit comedic and therefore could deflect from the purpose of the video.
