         <title>The Love Canal (1978)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Love Canal in Niagara Falls, NY was originally intended to be a power canal that would generate hydroelectric power intended for an industrial city. </p><p><br/></p><p>The production of the canal was never completed, so it was used as a place to dump 21,000 tons of toxic chemicals. </p><p><br/></p><p>Since then NYSDEC implemented a system to gather contaminated liquids from the Love Canal landfill.</p><p><br/></p><p><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.epa.gov/archive/epa/aboutepa/love-canal-tragedy.html">https://www.epa.gov/archive/epa/aboutepa/love-canal-tragedy.html</a></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The World Conservation Strategy was a report that helped shape sustainable development globally. </p><p><br/></p><p>The strategy consists of three main objectives:</p><ol><li><p><strong>Conservation of biodiversity</strong> (protecting ecosystems, species, and genetic diversity)</p></li><li><p><strong>Sustainable use of natural resources </strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Equitable sharing of benefits </strong>(fairness in how we use and benefit from resources.
