The River Thames is the longest in England. It has 346 km. It is born in the county of Glouceshire, passes through London and empties into the North Sea. its flow
average is 65.8m3/s
Known in some parts as the Isis River. It flows through the south of England. It has some 50 tributaries and contains more than 80 islands.
It has a major sea route for shipping and supplies.
Treated wastewater from all cities and towns in the basin flows into the River Thames. However untreated sewage regularly reaches the Thames during wet weather. This kills fish, leaves untreated sewage in the banks and lowers water quality.
