People had a right to partake in creating the laws and they needed 6000 people to vote. Apparently they had sent slaves to get more people to vote and if a citizen had a red mark on that a slave put would have to vote. The assembly was large and was difficult to make decisions. The picked citizens to serve a smaller council they decided what they would discuss. It made things run smoother.

The democracy had ended, Athens was taken over by the Macedonians and they fell under their influence. Even after being overthrown they still followed the democracy with very limited powers. The Macedonian king ruled like a dictator, couldn't do anything without his approval. The assembly still met but they didn't want to upset the king and couldn't change their laws without him. They soon lost the limited democracy. A new king took over and ended The Athenian democracy forever.
