The new tax bill which was passed in the House and the Senate and signed into law by the president. The current bill lowers the corporate tax rate which could incentivize companies and corporations to bring production and business back to the United States. This is bad for globalization because it inherently decreases global trade and increases US isolation. It does have the potential to provide jobs for Americans, but it also takes away jobs from the industries which transport goods.

CNN 10 self driving cars: (summary/analysis)

Self-driving cars are more advanced than ever but they still have one major flaw; They are machines. These computers can be hacked, deceived and even blamed for human error. The segment talks a lot about how these cars are more advanced than any human driver and that theoretically if they were implemented every ware that they would be "no accidents." The piece also explains how car accidents kill more people than plane crashes and terrorist attacks and yet it gets so little attention. Another underlying question that was mentioned was how this would affect the economy. With the potential for self-driving cars to replace all driving jobs (truck drivers delivery men, uber/ taxi etc...)

Southerland was the director of the GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade). Last week, around the time when he died, the new US ambassador was making a case for a US - India free trade agreement. The agreement would result in the closing of the trade deficit between India and the US which is around $20 billion today. The new agreement is estimated to make $115 billion.

The powers of the world do not see eye to eye on this topic, for example, Netanyahu raised serious questions on how the free trade agreement with India will affect the migration crises which we are faced with today. These issues will be discussed next week in the Swiss Alps.

With the election protectionist policies, Cross-border capital flows are in decline. With these predicaments in light, the author explains how the many critiques are both valid, but extreme. He explains how Nordic social democratic countries have retained their local jobs while still globalizing and benefitting from globalism. One specific example of a policy which fits this model is the compensating and retraining unemployed workers, as well as providing good vocational training and advanced skills to youth. These movements have been reasonably well implemented, but they are not without flaws. For example, alt right movements in Sweden and anti-migration policies are just some of the signs that this approach can be improved.
