"Use the same routines, protocols, and other discussion structures that are common during face-to-face classes" The learning is driven by the tools that are utilized. Use of these tools allow students to dive deeper into a concept- without them the thinking and learning remains superficial.

Front-loading has become an under-utilized strategy. It captures the essence of SEL and CRSE. This strategy allows the teacher to tap into students' schema/background knowledge while building self-confidence on a topic so that they are able to take academic risks when they are with their peers.

"Keep time for students by sending announcements so that students are aware of the time including a timer in the note catcher. Time often needs to be adjusted based on how ideas are developing in the note catcher." We use Pear Deck which allows me to monitor in real time the work and discussions that are occurring in the Google Break Out Rooms. I like the option through the Note Catcher to make an announcement to the entire class. Sometimes great questions or comments come up in one group that I would like to share in the moment with the other groups and it is not possible to do that. For this reason I think "AHA" moments can be shared quickly and easily.

I like that the note catcher allows students to share what they are learning on one document. This will let the teacher know if are understanding the assignment or need additional support. The note catcher allows the students to capture their discussion. The teacher can the provide feedback and comments to the student group. I think providing students with a video directions that would also be beneficial for the students.

Pre-Assignments truly assist students in preparing for their upcoming discussions. It also allows students that may have difficulty with speaking during small group instruction. They can view comments from their peers that may change their way of thinking or resonate with their thinking. The use of Flip Grid and Voice Thread are useful with all learners however it is very helpful with ELLs/MLLs and Students with Disabilities. Students can view Flip Grids and Voice Thread. These tools then can be used if needed to assist in translation with Google Translate.

Immediate and specific feedback is a key component in learning for students as well as teachers. These findings help thinking while devising the next lesson. The use of adding the survey to the chat box is great to ensure that students are held accountable for their learning by being self reflective. We want to enhance students voices within our lessons. Many of times students have such great next steps for their peers as well as their instructors. We must embrace everyones voices to ensure that all learners feel valued and that the online platform of learning is one that is risk free. It allows students to engage in academic language.

My teachers are using note catchers (often via Jam Board) to capture all students' thoughts. Sometimes some students either don't feel comfortable speaking in front of the whole class or there isn't enough time to call on everyone --- this ensures everyone's voice is heard.

I agree that students are not likely to complete surveys after class has ended. Therefore, it is imperative that you provide time at the end of a class session to complete any surveys.
