Strep can be transmitted when someone infected with the bacteria coughs or sneezes. It can also be contracted through sharing food or drinks. The bacteria can also be picked up from surfaces like doors which can be transferred to your nose, mouth, or eyes.

Strep is very easy to prevent. Simply wash your hands, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and avoid sharing personal items such as food or drinks. To avoid being reinfected by strep throw out your old tooth brush and be sure to finish taking all antibiotics.
