He played guitar in Smile from 1968-70 and in Queen from 1970-present. He went to the Imperial College London from where he recived a PhD in astrophysics for the work he started in 1971 and completed in 2007.

He started the band together with Roger Taylor and later Freddie Mercury joined and suggested the name Queen. In 1971 John Deacon joined as their base player.

It is written about his discoveries within the subject of the Zodiacal light.
The phenomenon of the Zodiacal light is the name for the cone of light seen in the Western sky in the evening, and in the Eastern morning sky just before dawn. This is also more commonly known as the False dawn. Brian says that one of the reasons he could publish his thesis on this subject is the small of amount of reasearch that has been done on the subject.
