         <description><![CDATA[<div>As a person who has experienced bias since my existence, I have a strong passion to learn about implicit biases in order to:<br><br>1. Advocate for myself, family/loved ones, and students<br>2. Improve my practices so I do not impose biased behavior unknowingly.  I have this quote from Maya Angelo that I often reflect on : “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”<br>3. As a Christian, I have been taught, we {Christians} maybe the only representative a non-believer may encounter, represent the best manner possible.  To sum it up: What would Jesus Do?.<br><br>It is a challenge in America living/existing as an African American! Many times the burden of proof lies on the color of our skin!  I never want any human to experience what I have since birth just because I am highly intelligent, beautiful, and black!  The stories would be alarming!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Now that we have had this training and I have taken several IATs, I am aware of the implicit biases that I have and can monitor my thoughts and reactions towards others. I will strive to remain aware of the why's (why do I think/act this way) and try to genuinely connect with all of my students and work on identifying their why's before reacting. </div>]]></description>
