Amir's feelings towards Hassan includes those of jealousy, frustration, love, betrayal, and guilt. Through the first few chapters, Hassan and Amir's relationship is love and hate, Hassan loves and looks up to Amir, while Amir has mixed feelings about Hassan. In the beginning, Amir yearns for Baba's affection, this affects his feelings towards Hassan as he begins to get jealous of the attention he receives from Baba. Although, Amir's green world would still include Hassan in it, by his side, because Hassan is still his best friend. However, In the later chapters, Amirs feelings change after what happens to Hassan. Amir can now only feel guilt and disgust when with Hassan.
