The children seemed to love having the freedom to run around and find lots of different types of leaves. They loved when we asked them to spot different things, for example the tallest tree and made it a challenge to see who could find things the quickest

We did accommodate and base our resources around being accessible for EAL children by using dual coding and using pictures as well as key words etc however I would have added the translation into a child’s home language now to help with the child’s understanding.

Knowing the children the lesson was pitched too high for their ability soo I would simplify the animals. Make more of a game about the familiarisation with the insects at the start as they didn’t have any prior knowledge.

We ended up catching the insects in the perti dish so thinking of ways to make this more simple for the children.

I am very willing to teach science outside on placement but I think I would gather plenty of info on their prior knowledge beforehand to make sure the activity was suited better.

The children’s knowledge did develop by the end.
