         <description><![CDATA[<div>1- Jamestown was founded in 1607 and was served as the capital of Virginia colony for over 80 years.<br>2-  They named the new settlement Jamestown after King James 1.<br>3- They built a fort for protection but later on in the summer the site turned into swamp filled with mosquitoes and poisonous water. In the winter in was unprotected from the harsh winter storms and became bitterly cold. <br>4-  The first settlers of Jamestown were all men. Most of them were all gentlemen looking for gold. They hoped to get rick then return to England.<br>5- The settlers did not get along with the Powhatan at first, some settlers were killed or kidnapped by the Powhatan when venturing outside the fort.</div>]]></description>

They discovered Roanoke Island and met the local natives.<br>3- The first expedition to Roanoke was led by Sir Richard Greenville.<br>4- The settlers built a fort at Roanoke, but struggled to survive.<br>5- After returning to England, White could find little help for the colony. England was in the middle of a large battle with Spain and the Spanish Armada. As a result, White was unable to return until three years later in 1590.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1-After arriving in America, the Pilgrims searched the coast of New England for a good place to build a settlement. They eventually found a location called Plymouth. It had a calm harbor for their ship, a river for fresh water, and flat lands where they could plant crops. It was here that they built their village and established the Plymouth Colony.<br>2- After arriving in America, the Pilgrims searched the coast of New England for a good place to build a settlement. It was here that they built their village and established the Plymouth Colony.<br>3- Many people got sick and died over the first winter. At one point there were only around six people well enough to continue working.<br>4- The Native Americans that lived in the same area as Plymouth Colony were the Wampanoag peoples. The chief of the Wampanoag, Massasoit, made contact with the Pilgrims. They established a peace treaty and agreed to trade for animal furs.<br>5- The Pilgrims held a feast after their first harvest in 1621. They invited some of the local Wampanoag people to join them. This feast is sometimes called the first Thanksgiving. They continued this tradition and, in 1623, when they were celebrating the end of a long drought, they began to call the feast "Thanksgiving."<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
