I would mentor and support them by creating a positive and supportive environment by being approaching and open to helping them whenever they need help.
I would plan ahead and manage my time wisely by allocating enough time for each area to avoid problems arising in the future and avoid being overly stressed.

I can be the first to initiate the discussion or get the conversation going, because the trainee are usually shy or introverted when they first join SU.
I plan to prioritise studies first, then SU. If things get too hectic I would ask for extensions prior to the due dates of some of my tasks to make it less stressful

I can support and mentor my juniors by setting a good example. For example, I can go up to do the announcements first if there are any, and let them follow for the remaining days. Besides, I can teach them my knowledge through experience, especially during the high-stress planning of S1OP.

I would plan ahead, settling my schedule as far into the future as possible on the date the future dates of meetings are set.

How can you mentor and support your junior and trainee members?

I can mentor and support my junior and trainee members by giving them advice when they need and guide them when they need help. Train and tell them what needs to be done and how things should be done.

How do you plan to balance your student union duties with your academic and personal life?

I have a schedule for my things so that i plan my time to balance my student union duties with my academic and personal life.

I can mentor them by giving them a positive environment to work in. And I can support them by offering help whenever their facing struggles. All in all, I would help by offering support when they need it most.

I plan to balance my duties and studies by putting down all my SU meetings in my calendar, so I know which days I might not have time to revise. And then, I use the remaining days to fill in blanks on what to revise/study. For personal life, I mostly take my weekends and Fridays as a day to relax after a busy weekend of school.

1. What specific skills or knowledge do you want to gain during your trainee period?

I want to learn how to plan events, work well with others, and speak up with more confidence. I also want to understand how the SU works so I can actually help make things happen.

2. What areas of the student union activities interest you the most, and why?

I’m really interested in setting up. I love the idea of being behind something that brings everyone together. It’s cool knowing you played a part in making something memorable for the school.
