Types of abuse: physical, verbal and financial

Problems with Stress & Coping: External stress, non-related to caregiving (Storey, 2019).
The daughter is very stressed all the time.

Attitudes: Refers to the negative attitudes held by the society towards an elderly person, such as ageism (Storey, 2019; Pillemer et al., 2015).
Daughter scolded mother for being old and useless

Dependency (Storey, 2019; Lachs & Pillemer, 2004): Refers to how the adult child depends largely on the elder parent, for reasons like finance, resorting to abuse to obtain the resource.
Daughter asks mother for money. When refused, daughter abuses the mother till the mother complies

Caregiver Stress/Burden: It refers to a great deal of stress experienced by the adult child due to the responsibility of being a caregiver for elderly parent (Storey, 2019; Yan, Chan & Tiwari, 2014). When unable to cope with this stress, they resort to abusive behaviour.
Mother's immobility

Social Isolation/Lack of Social Support (Storey, 2019; Yan, Chan & Tiwari, 2014): It refers to when the individual has a lack of social contact/support with others. This decreases the likelihood of abuse detection, and they believe nobody knows or cares about their abusive behaviour. Exacerbates other risk factors for elder abuse (E.g. increased stress & depression).
"I stayed home with my daughter most of the time. Just the both of us"
Daughter has no body to talk to
