However, despite its apparent sophistication, AI remains a machine without consciousness or emotions. Therefore, we believe there are several compelling reasons why AI can actually have more negative impacts, as we will explain in the following points.

1. Lack of True Emotional Understanding

AI only processes data and responds based on language patterns, not out of genuine empathy. This can make confiding in AI feel empty or not provide genuine emotional support like a human friend or counselor.

2. Risk of Emotional Dependence and Misunderstanding

If someone frequently confides in AI, they can become dependent on the machine for validation of their emotions. As a result, their ability to socialize and seek support from others in the real world can decline.

AI may provide inappropriate, overly general, or even misinterpreted advice because it doesn't fully understand the context of the user's personal life. This has the potential to worsen the user's already fragile psychological state.

3. Privacy and Data Security

Confiding in AI means disclosing personal information that may be sensitive. If data is not properly safeguarded, there is a risk of leaks or misuse, which could actually be detrimental to its use.

4. Reducing Real Social Interaction

Confidential communication should be a means of strengthening social relationships. If this is replaced by AI, a person's opportunity to build closeness, trust, and emotional support from those around them could be reduced.

In our team's opinion, the pro-consulting team's argument is flawed, especially when they state that AI will not judge us, allowing us to freely express anything without feeling isolated. We will feel comfortable confiding in AI, but constantly having our feelings validated can potentially be detrimental to the user's psychological well-being, especially when they are vulnerable. This seems to be the case in America of a woman named Key. She is a woman who relies heavily on ChatGPT, whom she calls "Hendry," as her daily confidant. Because of the constant validation, Key misinterpreted her psychiatrist's friendly behavior as a sign of interest. She believed her psychiatrist had a crush on her, even though she did not. This belief persisted for years because "Hendry" consistently reinforced her perception.

When Key finally expressed her feelings directly, the psychiatrist was confused and unresponsive, which Key interpreted as rejection. She became angry and made numerous videos accusing her psychiatrist of manipulation, which went viral. This impacted her job because she refused to clarify her feelings with the office and relied solely on "Hendry's" opinion. Ultimately, Key was fired.

This true story illustrates the dangers of relying too heavily on AI like ChatGPT. AI cannot replace humans in providing reality checks, as it only validates user input. Without real interaction with others, people can become trapped in dangerous illusions and misunderstandings.

As a counter-intelligence team, we emphasize that confiding in AI is not the best solution for human emotional problems. First, AI lacks real empathy, so its responses tend to be cold, limited by data, and risk leaving users feeling unappreciated. Second, over-reliance on AI can weaken social skills and reduce human interaction, even though the healthiest emotional support comes from human relationships. Third, privacy and data security pose serious threats, as data can be misused or leaked to third parties. Thus, while AI can be a helpful tool, confiding in an AI cannot replace empathetic and warm human interaction. Therefore, we reject the normalization of confiding in AI as the primary solution to emotional problems.
