Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of Britain, hosted a sit-down conversation, at a summit on the dangers of artificial intelligence.  

Elon Musk, billionaire and entrepreneur, was a member of the AI safety summit hosted in the UK. 

Due to Musk’s, growing geopolitical influence, he was given the opportunity to have a sit-down conversation with Sunak discussing the benefits and dangers of AI.

Sunak interviewed Musk about the potential dangers of AI, and what the world can do to prepare itself. 

Musk responded to Sunak’s question by saying that AI will be a force for good. He said that the chance of things going wrong is not zero, but he said that intelligence is developing fast.

Sunak, believed that AI poses many risks, but says that he believed AI would improve productivity, create jobs, and serve as a “co-pilot” to help workers rather than replace them.

Some people thought that Sunak’s conversation with Musk was an attemp to raise Britain’s standing with entrepreneurs and tech companies, especially during Britain’s unstable economy. 

Stanford’s Cyber Policy Center’s International Policy director Marietje Schaake, said that Sunak wants the UK to attract investments. 

She further said that the interview looks like a media stunt.

Sunak’s conversation with Musk veered toward science fiction. 

Musk outlined a future in which computers would surpass human intelligence and people would not have to work. He also discussed the creation of humanoid robots that would need off switches. 

Musk also said that AI systems could become so advanced that it could be a person’s great friend by remembering conversations and learning their likes and dislikes.
