Ø Nurse: hello! Mr. Simon
I will explain how to inject insulin okay?

Ø Simon (patient): okay

Ø Nurse:
1. Before you must have

| · The insulin bottle | · Insulin pen needle
| · Alcohol wipe | · Container for the used syringe

2. Wash your hands

3. Check expiration on the insulin bottle to make sure it has not expired

4. Remove the insulin bottle cap

5. Clean the rubber seal on top of the bottle using an alcohol wipe

Ø Pull air into the syringe by pulling the plunger back until the back tip is at the level of the indicator line of the required

Ø Push the needle through the rubber seal the botte

Ø Turn the insulin bottler and downwards into duce the insulin into the back part matches the indicator line of the required dose

Ø The most common place to inject insulin are the abdomen (tummy) upper arm, upper buttocks and outer, thighs choose the site where you the prefer to have injection, and clean the skin with an alcohol wipe

Ø Gently pinch the skin. Hold the syringe at ninety degrees to the skin and introduce the entire needle.

Ø Stop pinching the skin slowly push in the plunger to inject all of the insulin wait for a few seconds store remove the syringe
