The society of Bhutan today is made up of several ethnic groups. The Sharchops, live mostly in in eastern Bhutan. Some of the earliest tribes are believed to have come from India and Burma. The Ngalops live in western Bhutan and migrated from the Tibetan plains. The Ngalops are said to of been the first ones to bring Buddhism to the country. The other main ethnic group is the Lhotshampas, who were from Nepal originally. The Lhotshampas migrated to Bhutan toward the end of the nineteenth century.

http://www.everyculture.com/A-Bo/Bhutan.html
8-27-13
