The Mind Our Future Project is a lottery-funded project about bringing young people together to take the lead in designing mental health support in Wrexham and Flintshire. We are working with young people from 11 to 25 through project groups, events and online forums. As the Project Lead, my primary responsibility is to effectively coordinate the efforts of OMG, YPEG, and our partnership. Together, we will collaboratively develop project objectives that align with the National Lottery Criteria. By doing so, we will ensure that our initiatives continue to serve and benefit the young people of North East Wales, fostering their growth and well-being.

As you would have seen on the Email, The project team is expanding! The project support Officer will help with some of the admin duties on the project along with evidence gathering, event coordination and project documentation.

We've had two strong application with one being from our Very own YPEG member :D. We're hoping by the end of next week (WC 17/07/2023) we should be able to provide both candidates feedback on their applications.

Meet Arlo Dennis

Arlo started with us on 17/7/23 and is the new project support officer on the Mind Our Future project.

Coming from a corporate background Arlo is process driven and efficient at all project-related talks. Arlo's passion is cycle touring and football, and he's been coaching a youth team for the past 10 years.

Workshop success!

We're thrilled to announce that our 3 in-person workshops have now been completed, and we feel were a huge success!

We want to thank everyone who participated - the young people,
parents, professionals, and community members - for coming together and having
thoughtful discussions about mental health.

We'd especially like to say a huge thanks to Ryan, Macey and Joe from the YPEG and Vanessa, Jane, and Mike for lending their talents in organizing and facilitating these amazing events. We also want to thank Halkyn
Castle Woods, Moneypenny, and YourSpace for providing such wonderful venues for our workshops.

The workshops took place in a variety of settings across Wrexham and Flintshire, which allowed us to connect with people from many different backgrounds and perspectives. The goal was to brainstorm ideas and solutions to
improve mental health resources and support for young people in our local communities.

We had so many wonderful conversations and have gathered a wealth of insights, experiences, and ideas from all who attended. We are now in the process of collating, documenting and analyzing all of the data from the workshops.
Once we have finished compiling the results, we will share a full report on the key takeaways and next steps.

Overall, we are feeling very motivated and excited by the
passion, engagement, and care for young people's mental health that was present at each of the workshops. This inspires us to keep working to make positive
changes in Wrexham and Flintshire. We hope all who participated feel proud to have been part of such a meaningful endeavour to support our youth. Thank you
again for contributing to the success of these workshops!

Pizza Party!!

We're hosting a pizza party towards the end of Ocotber to thank the young people from the YPEG for their contributions to the recent mental health workshops.

Their insights and perspectives were invaluable. We want to show our appreciation and hear their thoughts on what more can be done to support youth mental health in Wrexham and Flintshire over the next 4 years.

Sam started with us on 7/09/23 and is the Youth Project Officer on the Mind Out Future project.

Sam's background is in Playwork and Youth Work with the drive to support children and young people to thrive through play and accessing local opportunities.

Meddwl Ymlaen/Mind our Future have received £3000 of funding from the New Leaders award. The YLAB are leading the way and are currently working on ideas on how to spend the funds. The plan will then be to go out and create some media content specific to the project. 😊
