1. A Brief Outline of the Game
Yut Nori is a traditional board game played in Korea, especially during Korean New Year.

2. The Origin of the Game
Although the origins of this popular family game are unclear, some research suggests that yut was played as early as the Three Kingdoms (57 BCE – 668 CE). People of Baekje played a board game similar to Yut, which is believed to be similar to Pachisi, a board game originating in India.

3. The Purpose of the Game
Yutnori is a village festival, and everyone of all ages participates. Yutnori is also fun, but it contains wishes for good farming.

4. How to play
Yut nori is basically a game that has four Yut sticks. The moves are called Do, Gae, Geol, Yut, or Mo, depending on whether the Yut sticks land on their fronts of backs. Each team then casts the sticks in turn, then moves a mal according to the score achieved. One turn usually consists of only one cast. However, a player achieving a yut or mo earns an extra cast for the turn; if he/she casts a yut or mo at the second cast, he/she earns an extra cast again, so there is no limit to the number of times a player can cast again before the end of a turn, provided he or she keeps casting yuts or mos.

5. Why Do I Think It Looks Interesting
I played yut several times with my family during Chuseok. It was good to play a game that you can enjoy with your family. The rules are systematic, but they are not difficult, so I think I can enjoy them regardless of age.

The etymology of Ganggangsullae is not clear, however the term's origins can be guessed by interpreting the name in either indigenous Korean or Hanja characters. Some theorize that the term was derived from the indigenous Korean words, in which 'Gang' of Ganggangsullae means circle and 'sullae', which derived from the words 'sunu' or 'sulla', means a wagon or to alert. In combination, the term means to wagon or alert around in circle.

5. The Reason I Think It Looks Interesting

For this project, I thought it was interesting and I will tell you two reasons why I think so.

First, it has many actions to play in Ganggangsullae. Not only going around Wonmu but also other movements such as Stomping Roof Tile, Gatekeeper Play. Before I did this project, I thought Stomping Roof Tile was another folk play. But now I can learn that it is one of the actions in Ganggangsullae. So of these many actions, I think we can play Ganggangsullae any boredom.

Second, I think Ganggangsullae is a play that women can play without any control or suppression by men. In the Joseon Dynasty, women were hard to articulate and were ignored because they were women. They also prohibited going out at night and singing a song in a loud voice. But Ganggangsullae makes women feel they have an independent existence by giving them a chance to play only with women in Chuseok.

For this reason, I think Ganggangsullae is interesting. I think Ganggangsullae is a play that can make us feel the Korean's soul. So, we have to remember and preserve it.
