Primary school (from 6 to 12 years old) 
Secondary school (from 12 to 15 years old) 
High school (from 15 to 18 years old).

And if we sum this years we can see, that children at Japan srudying for 12 years.  

And if Russian pupils want to continue their education in university in Japan they need to study 12 year in school.

All children must study at primary and secondary schools, but if you want to study at high school, you need to pay for that. 

94 % pupils from Japan graduate from high school after that they can enter to university.
