In fact, the United States, the richest country in the world, has the highest poverty rate in the group of rich countries. According to The Economist, there are more than 40 million people are currently living in poverty. The line of poverty in the United States is set to an annual household income of $25,100 for a family of 4 members.

Low income or unemployment can cause living in poverty; some people cannot even afford rent so they become homeless. It is really hard for those people who are living in poverty to break through that line.
