Beneatha also shows a lack of respect for the values of mama and the rest of the family. This relates back to the baby lamb as with all children they do not want to conform to any other ideas than their own, trying to run away to create their very own life. She has such capacity for learning and greatness yet her attitude hold her back almost as much as walter does.
