Father to Hermia, Egeus comes to Theseus after his daughter has disrespected his consent to marry Demetrius and has instead chosen to marry Lysander who Egeus dose not approve of. After failed attempts of convincing his daughter, Egeus comes to Theseus to give Hermia three options, to marry Demetrius, death, or to be forever a nun.

Hermia

As the daughter of the prestigous Egeus and best friend to Helena, she has decided to marry Lysander instead of Demetrius against her father's wishes

Later on, she has a fall out with Helena in which they both have a cat fight over love and womanhood. However, in the end, they make amends as Theseus has allowed them to be married when he gets married with Hippolyta

Lysander

Defying the wishes of his lover's fathers wishes, Lysander dares to love Hermia despite the consequences set up for her if she does so. As a result, he come up with a plan to escape Athens through the forest to his aunts house where they fall asleep apart because Hermia thinks its customary to sleep apart. As a result, Puck wanders through and believes he found Demetrious and thus puts the love flower on his eyes and Helena happens to be near. This causes Lysander to love Helena instead of Hermia and sets up future conflict. Later on, he is cured and reunites with Hermia and is married at Theseus's wedding.

Demetrius

A once-lover to Helena, the prestigious Demetrius no longer loves Helena but is instead in love with Hermia. Egeus has already given him his permission to marry Hermia, but since Hermia loves Lysander, she denies the marriage.

However, later on, he is in love with Helena once more as a result of the love spell Puck anointed on him and from it, he married Helena at Theseus's wedding.

Helena

Lover to Demetrius, Helena is madly in love with a man who dares not to love her back even though he has before. After Hermia is given the hard choices by Theseus, she tells Helen of her plan to ditch Athens and going through the forest to marry Lysander at his aunt's house, Helena formulates a plan to tell her beloved Demetrius of the plan so he can finally see her. Although, when this occurs, Demetrius tell Helena to act like a good-mannered youth instead of this irrational women she currently is. Later on, she has a cat-fight with Helena over some stuff and have a falling out, yet they make amends later on and her goal to marry Demetrius is finally realized at Theseus's wedding.

Theseus

Duke of Athens, Theseus defeats the Queen of the amazons and forces her to marry him, and soon afterwards, forces and intamdates Hermia with three choices as she disobeys her fathers word: to become a nun, die, or to marry Demetrius.

Ultimately, however, he allows for Hermia to marry Lysander and all the lovers to be married at his wedding.

Hippolyta

Queen of The Amazons, does not want to marry Theseus nor does she like him in the slightest shown by her attitude and manner. She does however, show sympathy with Hermia in the beginning and comforts one of the Rude Mechanicals at the end.

Oberon

King of the Fairies, in a lover's quarrel with Titania, and devises a plan to put Titania under a love spell in order to get an Indian boy. However, when he does get the Indian boy, he is unsatisfied and cures Titania as he wanted attention from her, and they ultimately get back together. A bit further, the Queen and King of the Fairies bless the wedding of all the lovers.

Titania

Queen of the Fairies, is disputing with Oberon over an Indian boy.

She falls in love with Nick Bottom in Act 3 due to Oberon's love potion plan, yet in the end, is cured and gets back with Oberon. During the wedding of all the lovers, the Queen and King bless the marriages.

Puck (Robin Goodfellow)

Mischevious servant of Oberon, he is a fairy who embraces chaos and opportunities all in the name of pranks. He accidentally places the Love flower on Lysander instead of Demetrious and causes the climax of the story to happen in Act 3. Under orders from Oberon, he cures Lysander with the antidote of the love flower and fixes his mistake and sets up the resolution to the play.

Nick Bottom

Actor for Peter Quince, and because of his personality and his arrogance, he wants to play every part in the play for Theseus and Hippolyta named Pyramus and Thisbe. Later on, he is turned into a donkey by Puck and Titania falls in love with him while under the potion.

Director of the play of This be and Pyramus, he is holding a play in honor of the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta. However, his planning is very insecure as he wants a role for every insignificant thing in the play such as a wall and the moon. His play is later performed and is ridiculed
