Mina was a writer. She was an intern at The Harper Beacon. She was writing a story about Jackie's disappearance. She was interviewing Jackie's closest family and friends. She interviewed Matt (Jackie's boyfriend), Amy (Jackie's sister) and Jack (Jackie's grandfather). Matt and Jacks interviews went fine but Amy asked Mina to turn the recorder off and have the interview be off the record. Mina was a 17 year old girl, she played soccer and had a boyfriend. She lived a normal life until Mina was murdered in the woods. She was with her best friend Sophie Winters the night she was killed. Sophie was struck over the head and knocked out. The killer framed Sophie with drugs and fled. Her killer is still on the loose.

Through this quote you can tell he is very hurt about Jackie's death and he feels a lot of sorrow when he thinks about it.

“letting me finally let her go” This quote from Sophie, throughout the book we see her struggling with her love for Mina. She has been trying to hold onto the whole book. “There is only blood. It’s everywhere. I press hard against Mina’s chest, but my jacket’s already soaked through”n this scene Kyle tells Sophie that Mina loved her. Sophie finally found the killer and finally got the reasurinance that she needed to let her go. She worked so hard and she finally did what she put her mind to.

Her head leans to the side, her grip slowly loosening in mine.”  Mina is killed and leaves the mystery of who the killer is. This creates the conflict of having to solve the mystery of who killed Mina.
