The way this connects to Through the tunnel is he learned the difference between intelligent disobedience and moral courage as he had to do both. He had to have the moral courage to go under the water and hold his breath. Also he had to have the intelligent disobedience to do what was right instead of the wrong.

FDR and Elouise Cobell A small measure of justice connect because both articles are based on political standpoints and fighting for what is right. Also they had to overcome their problems by facing them face to face and seeing who and what was going wrong and what they had to do to fix that.

Both of these articles connect in their illustration of moral courage. This is evidenced through Biles’ ability to remain transparent with her critics in the wake of her leave from the Olympics, and FDR’s ability to remain transparent with his citizens, regarding the state of the Union, in the midst of economic depression.

Simone Biles and this article connect because both went through mentally tough challenges and had to overcome them . This is because Simone Biles took some time off her sport to focus on herself and the kid in this article kept practicing to show himself that he can do what the foreigners do.

FDR conveys in his speech how determined he is to implement his New Deal plan regardless of political or congressional opposition he would face because of how strongly he felt that it was needed for the well-being of the people. The same type of determination exhibited by both Cobell in her legal battles, and in the African American protesters in the painting "Confrontation on the Bridge". All 3 pieces make the case that in order to change systems, you need to have the courage to face adversity in the way. (DMS)

In the article “Morale Courage and Intelligent Disobedience”. It talks about how physical courage is to overcome fear in the face of bodily injuries or death, mental pain, and lifelong disabilities. Jerry in the article went through physical courage. To prove to the older boys and himself that he wasn’t a failure, he would train his breath until his nose bled, even if he died.

Simone Biles and FDR connect because both had to overcome each problem that was faced to them and overcome and heal their mental health before they can do what they're good at. If FDR wasn't confident in himself he wouldn't have been able to provide these Americans with this information and if Simone Biles wasn't confident enough to go back to the sport she loved it wouldn't have ended in a good way.

In both sources, bravery is a common theme. For one, Cobell conveys bravery for stepping up for her people and for suing the government. The same bravery is evident in animals in the wild as they have to face predators in their everyday lives. When they are searching for either themselves or their offspring, they are putting their lives in danger for the sake of survival. Their bravery is also shown through the scars many animals have.

This relates to the article because Cobell, in seeking justice, challenges the most powerful nation in the world with moral courage. She was tough and fought for Native Americans' justice for years as a result of the US government's mismanagement

This persuades intelligent disobedience from the confrontation on the bridge because the people stood up for the right things instead of living in the wrong. This became a problem for most people and decided to finally make a change.

Both FDR and Jerry have a bold spirit in which they display the determination to accomplish their goals. FDR with his fighting spirit, declaring war on economic recession, and doing whatever it takes to win that war. Jerry is similarly determined to go through the tunnel almost at war with himself, and defeating childhood to be able to pass through his rite of passage into manhood. Both embody the fighting spririt needed to accomplish your goals regardless of the obstacles in their way

Thomspon writes in Bile's article that we must all have the courage to stand up to reality, regardless of whether you're an athlete like Biles or not in order to accomplish your goals. You must do this despite how unfeasible it may seem in order to reach your goals. The same fighting spririt displayed by athletes that powered through harsh conditions in games and that the author displayed when he was jumping off the diving board in a less significant extent, is the same fighting spirit displayed by both FDR and Jerry in their individual endeavors.
