The most important facet of me is my wife, Lauren. She is my best friend. She makes me want to be the best Steve I can be. We go on a lot of adventures together and she is the best buddy I could ask for. I'm the happiest when I'm with Lauren. She is quite the Maid Marian to my Robin Hood.

Electrician

Electrical work is a cornerstone piece of my life. I am a Journeyman electrician and I currently work for Alder Electric doing commercial electrical. I find doing electrical work brings me a lot of satisfaction and gives me purpose. My job as an electrician is quite enlightening.

Why I came back to school is to become a Master Electrician, a requirement of which is to obtain my associates of Applied Science.

The Great Outdoors

Spending time in the wild is a pivotal feature of my life and the things I associate with. I love camping and backpacking. Being able to escape the speed and noise of the city and slow down in the mountains brings me great joy. My wife and I do a lot of backpacking together. It brings us closer together.

I do a lot of rock climbing, I've been doing that for the last 18 years (off and on). Climbing outdoors helps me physically but also mentally challenge myself. It's a great mental workout.

A sub feature of my outdoor enthusiasm is Alaska. I spent three summers driving tour buses in Juneau, Alaska and had the absolute best time of my life while I was up there. I was able to visit Skagway, Sitka, Anchorage, and Fairbanks during my travels in Alaska. That great state has a special place in my heart. I had some amazing experiences and learned a lot about myself and who I wanted to be in life.

Faith in God

Having a faith in God is a leading aspect of my life. Maintaining that belief in God and in His Son Jesus Christ has brought me peace and happiness. This is a cultural aspect of my life that drives a vast majority of my moral compass, how I treat others, and how I approach life.

Toyota

I love cars, trucks, and things that go. Really anything that has an engine and wheels/tracks I find fascinating; that can range anywhere from excavators to sports cars to dirt bikes to tanks. My dad was a key influencer because in college he was a bit of a gear head, he had two corvettes while going to school. I found I could get closer to my dad through talking about cars.

Why Toyota specifically? We always had Toyota vehicles while I was growing up. Because of that, I've always been a fan. On top of that, because I like going on adventures, I need a reliable adventure vehicle. Toyota fits that bill perfectly.

A great example is when I decided to drive to Skagway, Alaska from Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a 2,500 mile trip one way. At the time I had a 1998 Toyota 4Runner with 200k miles on it; that was my weapon of choice to make the journey. My 4Runner made the trip up and eventually back with no issues at all, it wasn't even fazed.
