1. Why and how do we study literature? Why do we study TTTC?
We study literature to learn about different experiences and emotions, as well as learn about themes connected to our world today. We studied TTTC to learn about the themes of identity, trauma, and death, as well as to learn about war, specifically the Vietnam war.

2. How are we affected by literary texts in various ways? How are we impacted by TTTC?
We are affected by literary text in various ways because the themes discussed are often still present in the modern world and are important to learn about. We are impacted by TTTC because it is written about a specific  point in history but allows us to see the personal experiences and emotions of somebody who fought and lived through the war.

3. In what ways is meaning constructed, negotiated, expressed and interpreted in TTTC?
Meaning is constructed, negotiated, expressed and interpreted in TTTC through the personal experiences of the narrator.

4. How does the structure of style of TTTC affect its meaning?
The structure of style in TTTC affects its meaning because it makes the story more raw.

How does the meaning and impact of a literary text change over time?                                        The meaning and impact of a literary text changes over time as we go through more experiences and leave the past in the past. Over time, those stories become a part of history, which becomes important to learn about. The meaning and impact changes from something to current to something that someone or something endured in the past, which becomes a learning experience for readers over time. With new ideas and morals developed over time, the meaning and impact of a literary text can change as well.

How do literary texts reflect, represent or form a part of cultural practices?                    Literary text reflects, represents, and/or forms a part of cultural practices because it often talks about past stories/traditions/history about certain cultures, therefore it represents, forms, and reflects on the cultural practices of the cultures written about.

Stream of consciousness technique allows different points of view and interpretations of events so that readers can gain more knowledge of the characters/plot.

  1. How important is cultural or historical context to the production and reception of a literary text? Consider the story of Margaret Garner, the Fugitive Slave Act, and other historical and cultural phenomena and how that has impacted the creation and reception of Beloved.
Cultural and historical context is very important because it is written based on the life of a real person during a real period in time. Knowing history and culture of that time helped the creation and reception of Beloved greatly because that knowledge allowed that time period/story to be portrayed accurately.

Auschwitz and After is very similar to Toni Morrison's Beloved in the way that the story is told, using stream of consciousness, imagery, metaphors and symbolism to develop the message of the book. The usage of the motif of memory is also prevalent in both books as the authors develop the story.
