I didn't know where I belonged or what I really liked. I was trying to meet new people and make new friends. When I first met my teacher, Ms. McDonald, she was very nice and super friendly. I was the only freshman in the advanced foods class so I didn't fit in too well. Ms. Mcdonald, though, made my experience so much better. During freshman year, she had reached out to me to help with some events. One event was incoming freshman night and that night I met some of my best friends. From there on I knew this was a place that I felt belonged in.

I made nationals for culinary, i've presented in leadership conferences, and I as well assisted foods classes. I had to help grade papers, I demonstrated food preparation techniques and I as well helped students in labs. Ms. Mcdonald pushed me to my full potential. She believed in me every step of the way. She inspired me in and outside of the classroom. Now I finally recognized why he was leaning me away because he never had free time. I know that when I am older I want to be a mom and want to be there for my kids and I want to travel. I know it's far fetched but I had to start thinking about my future. 

It took weeks to a month to figure out what I wanted to be.

I think it was meant to be that I would go into Family and Consumer Science Teacher Education. I think freshman year I found what I wanted to do but I just haven't realized it yet.

She had believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. Im passionate in Family and Consumer Sciences. My goal for the future is to be able to teach my passion to others and to help my future students to be able to achieve anything they wish to achieve. Im attending Illinois State University this fall; I will be following Ms. McDonald's footsteps and will be majoring in Family and Consumer Science Teacher Education. I have learned so much from not only Ms. McDonald but from all four Family and Consumer Science Teachers at Glenbrook South. They have prepared me and have showed me the way of teaching. I'm going to take in all of their advice to make my career as successful as I can. Without them I might not be where I am today.  Once I graduate it's not the end of my relationship with those teachers.
